I NEVER REALIZED HOW OFTEN I ATE WITH GUILT, UNTIL I STARTED PAYING ATTENTION TO MY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS WHEN I GO TO THE KITCHEN TO EAT.
FIRST I STARTED ASKING MYSELF WHY AM I THERE – IS IT BECAUSE I AM HUNGRY OR IS IT BECAUSE OF AN EMOTION OF FEELING OTHER THAN HUNGER. I REALIZED HOW OFTEN I WAS DOING “EMOTIONAL EATING” – SO THE FOOD I CONSUMED WAS TO SATISFY AND EMOTION, RATHER THAN HUNGER. IT IS ONLY WHEN WE START PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS, THAT WE CAN CHANGE OUR BEHAVIOUR AND DEAL WITH THE EMOTION AND ITS CAUSE(S) RATHER THAN USING FOOD FOR COMFORT.
I ALSO STOP ATTACHING GUILT TO FOOD AND EATING. I STARTED ALLOWING MYSELF TO EAT WITH JOY. I STARTED PAYING ATTENTION TO HOW FOOD MAKES ME FEEL – DOES IT MAKE ME FEEL ENERGETIC OR DOES IT CAUSE DISCOMFORT. I STOP EATING FOODS THAT CAUSED DISCOMFORT FOR ME. I OF COURSE PAY ATTENTION TO MY DIET IN GENERAL – I CHOOSE FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, FOODS HIGH IN ANTIOXIDANTS, ETC. WHEN I DO HAVE A TREAT – LIKE A DESSERT OF SOMETHING SWEET – I ENJOY THAT TOO, TO THE FULLEST AND I STOPPED ATTACHING GUILT TO THAT. SO WHEN I EAT I EAT WITH JOY, NO MATTER WHAT I PUT IN MY MOUTH.
WE DO HAVE LANGUAGE TO HELP INDIVIDUALS STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION (WHETHER IT IS FOOD, DRUGS, CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL) OR WEIGHT. THIS LANGUAGE, WITH THE HEALING POWER OF ARCHANGEL RAPHAEL, ALLOWS FREEDOM TO LIVE IN PERFECT BALANCE WITH OUR DIET AND NUTRITION.
